Yikes! Slow News Week!

We here at Draft Diamond, including myself and partner Mike Hunt are more than a little amused at how the national media, growing bored with their navel gazing fight with PM Stevie Harper choose to latch on to the YouthForVolpe.Ca joke site that was launched earlier this week. Talk about a mountain out of a mole hill! Personally if any joke site was going to capture the imagination of the press corps we would have thought it would have been our orginal Draft Diamond site because quite frankly Joe Volpe being a corrupt, dishonest, and possible member of an exclusive Italian family that has a lot of movies and TV shows made about it is not really news, or all that funny, but the idea of Young Liberal President and all around fun loving dude Richard Diamond running for Prime Minister is a hell of a lot more funny to us. But thanks to Richard Diamond having a sense of humor and not threatning to sue everybody that looked at him funny, he did not really help drive the media story like Mr. Volpe did this week.

We want to salute Mr. Volpe and wish him all the luck in the world in his camapign because with Richard Diamond not runing and jokers like Scott Brison and Hedy Fry not doing anything really dumb yet it will be Mr. Volpe's soul responsibilty to make this contest have a sense of humor until it all wraps up with hugs and backstabing later this year.

Draft Diamond Enters a New Phase- GO TORY BRISON GO!

Hello to the thousands of readers of Draft Diamond! I'm very sorry that this blog has been less than active. It's just that I've personally been in a drunken haze mixed with a nasty case of depression after the announcement that my hero and all of yours Mr. Richard "Slick Dick" Diamond would not actually be tossing his hat (A very cool Ashton Kutcher Trucker Hat) into the ring for the race to be the next leader of the once great Liberal Party of Canada.

It seems that Richard was worried his sordid sexual history in both Winnipeg and Ottawa might come back to haunt him (S&M, gerbils, a certain night vision video tape etc etc etc.). I for one and all other thinking people did not believe for a second the slander being tossed around by Mr. Diamond's enemies, I for one think Richard's support of several young children is not evidence of his parenthood, but evidence of his extreme generosity in terms of supporting these children and their teenage mothers. Richard was practicing Liberal generosity In REAL LIFE by giving these kids a helping hand and their 15 year mommies some extra cash for diapers and food, but certain rumor mongers chose to spin his generosity as something ugly (I'm looking at you James Bowie!).

Richard has decided to throw his considerable support and organizational talent behind confused Conservative Scott Brison. Richard is going to help Mr. Brison learn how to use a blackberry, as well as help him become leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.

We here at Draft Diamond are saddened by this news, but if Richard thinks that Mr. Brisons giant ego and burning ambition to run for leader of yet another political party is good enough for him, than it's good enough for us too.

We assume that Mr. Brison got Richard on side by promising him a great cabinet post in his government (Minister of Bikini Inspection and Beer Bong's- is what we hear) so we look forward to the chilly day in Hell when Mr. Brison becomes leader!

Draft Diamond will now update on a more frequent basis now that our job of raising funds for Diamond's Leadership campaign is over. We will be here on the great world wide web to offer commentary and insider information on Canadian politics.

Sorry about the delay in posting, but I've been quite busy jetting around the country, meeting with important Liberals with deep pockets and telling them that they better get in on the ground floor with Diamond, or else they risk a lonley "future" in the Liberal Party. Richard Diamond has a long memory and he neither forgives, nor does he forget. So Join the Diamond Team Today and get ready to suck the warm manteats of patronage milk that Richard will let flow. With the Diamond "Straight Talk Express" gathering steam over the past month, we have seen even more potential leadership candidates run screaming into the night out of fear of the mighty hammer of Diamond. I expect that more wanabe's will soon announce that they are not running and are endorsing Mr. Diamond. ( I mean honestly in what bizaro-world does Joe Volpe think he can be leader of the Liberal Party? I wouldn't vote for Joe to be president of my Soprano's online fanclub)

We here at Draft Diamond are well connected with the inner workings of the Liberal Party Machine and thus are well aware of the ongoing civil war happening in the Quebec Wing of our youth organization. It seems that under the infulence of some kind of hard drugs mixed with some rather cheap red wine that known lush and YLCQ President Brigitte Legault has been suckered into joining the Conservative Party of Canada's shadow camapign to get Belinda Stronach elected leader of the Liberal Party. Richard knows Brigitte and is quite fond of her, but he wants to make it clear that he does not agree with her choice, no matter how much coke Belinda may have plied her with. Over at Richard's Second Favorite Blog Fuddle Duddle a rather large fight has broken out because Belinda speaks French as well as Pepe LePew and it is thought that having a unilingul conservative as leader of the Liberal Party might not be the best thing to gurantee electoral gains in Quebec. We here at Draft Diamond totaly agree with Antonio! NO LEADER OF THE LIBERAL PARTY CAN BE UNILINGUL! Richard Diamond speaks both English and at his Bar Mitzvah spoke passable Hebrew. Thus making him bilingual. We admit that his French is not really anything to write home about right now, but that will change! Richard like Scott Brison is busy learning grade 4 level French from elementry school text books and will be fluent as soon as possible.

Liberal Leadership Loses Another

It seems that this weekend's launch of Draft Diamond has already made a splash in the world of Canadian politics. Hearing of the soon to be unstopable Diamond Jugernaught, former Martin minister David Emerson jumped ship to join Harper and the Tories as he realized that he stood no chance of beating Richard Diamond for the Liberal Leadership.

I fear that other "Liberals" like Brison and Belinda may also be running from the party that they have demonstrated such loyality to as they come to understand that they have no chance to beat a life long LOYAL Liberal like Mr. Diamond. Did you read his bio? He has been campaigning for the Liberals since he was a little kid! Can Brison or Belinda say that? Can even Dryden or Iggy say that? NO! Richard Diamond is a Liberal 4 Life (In fact I hear that he may have tatoo in a private area saying just that) and Richard Diamond will no doubt be Prime Minister.

Richard Diamond for Liberal Leader- The Liberal Party Could Do a Lot Worse!

With the results of the January 23rd election still fresh in mind and the warm and still twitching corpse of Paul Martin Jr. barely out the door, it is of course time that the Liberal Party regroup, rebrand and begin another obsessive leadership race that can consume our party!

With the announcements from presumed Liberal hopefuls like Frank "The Tank" McKenna, Allan "Rock Star" Rock, John "Bland" Manely and Brian "Media Whore" Tobin are all taking a pass on the leadership race in order to spend time with their families, or some other presumably noble cause that won't divert them from their golf game, the question remains, who can lead our party into the 21st centuries Politics of Achievement?

There are numerous other names floating around like a couple of Tory turncoats, an ex NHL'er, that Volpe guy who was in an episode of the Soprano's, and some other long shots. Even with all these potential contenders I still don't see a person that can really lead the party into the future and truly help the Liberal Party of Canada achieve the Politics of Achievement.

I think it is time that the Liberal Party go outside the box and find a young Canadian that can really speak to a new generation of Canadian voters. And since Justin Trudeau is still holding out for a job on Canadian Idol, I think that the person that best suits the Liberal Party of Canada is non other than current Liberal Party of Canada Young Liberal President RICHARD "GIRLS BEST FRIEND" DIAMOND!

Clearly this is a young man with a bright future ahead of him. He is a Westerner that can battle Harper on his own turf! He has ties to Ontario. He has International Experience. He is a student of law! Not to mention his record as leader of the Young Liberals is stellar!

As an organizational force I think that the Diamond campaign is already well positioned. Thanks to the Martin Team and their efforts to take over the party, all across the country their are various fake campus clubs all of which get to send 4 delegates. At the last convention Young Liberals made up over 30 % of the delegates and Mr. Diamond was a key cog in making sure these impassioned young people were around to vote for Paul Martin.

I am starting this Draft Diamond site to gadge national support for Richard and to let him know that he has people in his corner that will work hard for him and take him to the top job.
